Dear Will Rogers Elementary School Community,

The first part of the 2018-19 year has gone by quickly and it has been an exciting time. Every day, I am moved and inspired by what I see. Every day, I marvel at the incredible devotion of our staff and their unique ability to teach and inspire our children. Every day, I celebrate the amazing support of our parents and community.

I believe that the success of our school is built on a foundation of mutual respect and inclusiveness. Every day, dedicated teachers and staff nurture a culture of fairness, love and caring, all focused on the goal of providing a safe learning environment for our students and families. BF-DC is committed to continuing this focus and supporting our families during the school day and beyond.

As we reflect on the many things for which we are thankful, I want to take this opportunity to share just a few of them with you: We are thankful for our students who come to school every day ready to learn – they give us all a daily reminder of what is important and why we are here. We are thankful for the support of the parents in creating an outstanding partnership for our students. We are thankful for the teachers, assistants, teacher's aides, bus drivers, secretaries, nurses, lunchroom aides, support staff, counselors and administrators who really care about student achievement and have the best interests of our students at heart. We are also thankful for our volunteers who enthusiastically contribute so much to our school. We see dedicated and tireless individuals going above and beyond to make sure that great things happen in our school. They do make a difference, and the children, in their own individual ways, benefit from those efforts.

Most importantly, we are thankful for you-parents- that have faith in us. You continue to share your most valuable possession with us, work hard and advocate to be a partner in your children’s education, safety, and well-being. For this, we are ever so thankful.

This is a wonderful time of the year to get together with friends and family to celebrate and be thankful for all the wonderful people in our lives. On behalf of the Will Rogers Elementary staff, I would like to thank you for your continued support and wish you all a safe and happy holiday. We will see everyone back here on November 26th.

Sincerely,

Mrs. Lace Davis

Welcome to Burns Flat –Dill City Schools: Will Rogers Elementary, Hello and welcome to the Will Rogers Elementary school website. I would like to take a minute and introduce myself and my family. I am Lace M. Logan-Davis. I am married to Douglas D. Davis, we have been married for 31 years  he is presently the Pre-K- 12th grade Principal in Balko, Oklahoma, we have 2 sons, Logan D. Davis and Londan J. Davis. They each are married. Logan is married to Randal Harrison-Davis of Elk City and Londan is married to Kayla Markham-Davis of Chickasha. We are the newly proud grandparents of Riff Harrison Davis and Kipton Drew Davis they were born on May 28, 2017 to the parents of Logan and Randal Davis. I want to thank everyone for their continued prayers for these beautiful baby boys. They are continuing to be Gods Lil Warriors.

My educational background and educational work experience consists of the following: I graduated from Idabel Public Schools in 1981.  I attended East Central University in Ada, Oklahoma, joining the Chi Omega Sorority, attending three years majoring in Vocal Music and Medical Technology. I then took an educational sabbatical overseas for a couple of years and then returned to Oklahoma to change my degree path and I then graduated with my Bachelors of Arts in Elementary Education from Southeastern Oklahoma State University in Durant, Oklahoma, later I graduated with my Masters in Special Education in 3 critical areas of LD,MR & SBH  from Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Weatherford, Oklahoma. I received extensive training in several specialized schools in the area of Special Education while living in Columbus, Ohio. We returned to Oklahoma several years later where I worked as the Migrant Coordinator and teacher for Clinton Public Schools Pre-K – 12th Grade. After Clinton, I worked as a K- 5th SPED teacher and HS Cheer Coach for Elgin Public Schools. Later we moved to Fort Cobb, Oklahoma where we commuted to Hinton Public Schools where I was the Pre-K – 8th grade Special Education teacher and continued to coach. While on a summer drive one day my husband and I stopped in to see about a position with Burns Flat –Dill City Public Schools, where he soon became the JH Principal and I became the 4th – 6th grade Elementary Special Education teacher and later JH & HS Cheer Coach as well as the Assistant Elementary Principal under the wonderful and amazing tutelage of Mrs. Susan Manuel and then 2 years later becoming the Elementary Principal, where I am presently . This is currently my third year as principal with the invaluable assistance of my Dean of Students: Desarae Simmons. Desarae is such an amazing creative woman. I am so thankful that we have such a strong partnership and that our students are the true winners by being exposed and challenged by such a leader.

My expectations for Will Rogers Elementary Students and Staff: We are a school that is student – driven. It is my wish this year for our school and community to build strong RELATIONSHIPS! I encouraged our faculty and staff to become vested with our students and their families to form a stronger bond to help our students holistically, academically and emotionally. At Will Rogers Elementary we make decisions that are in the best interest of the whole child and our student body. We empower our students to become anything that they want to become, no limitations. We encourage our students to be goal driven, to think of not only today but to prepare for their future. We have high expectations for our students. Our teachers and staff help facilitate our students through a multitude of teaching styles and advanced rigor,  to help our students succeed. We encourage diversity with respect. We are truly blessed to have such a dedicated faculty and staff that best serves the needs of our students.

I continue to be honored to be here and to be a part of this community. I love my job and I adore our students. I feel blessed on a daily basis to work with such amazing people. I am humbled and very thankful to have the opportunity to walk down these halls and be surrounded by this student body, faculty and staff. It is my goal every day to hug these children, to be a positive role model, to be consistent and fair, to give them structure and discipline, to let them hear words of praise and encouragement, to empower them to reach for their dreams and to remind them each and every day that today is the day to make MEMORY!

I look forward to this being a wonderful school year! I encourage you to take part in your child’s academic success! If you ever have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to call or to come by.

Life is about dreams,   a Teacher  makes them come true.

Have a blessed day!  Lace L. Davis
